The Presidential region for Showcase 2021 is Dumfries and Galloway. Under the leadership of President, Fiona Armstrong, the team have produced a number of films to promote the region.

Dumfries & Galloway "Let’s Grow Together” Presidential Initiative is a vibrant reflection of the region’s ambition to build on its many strengths and showing the interdependence of its different sectors.

Belted Galloway Willow Sculpture

Well, one of the highlights of this year’s Royal Highland Show is this… The magnificent wicker sculpture that’s standing proud outside our new centre here at Ingliston. The breed with its white belt is known fondly as the ‘Beltie’. It hails from south west Scotland - which is apt as Dumfries and Galloway is the host region for this year’s show. This chap has been created by Galloway artist, Trevor Leat. Trevor's been weaving wicker and willow for thirty years - and I’m sure you’ll agree that his latest creation is a real head turner…

Dumfries & Galloway Highlights

We’re here at Ingliston just by Edinburgh airport - and that’s where the Royal Highland Show has been sited for the last 60 years. Before that date, the RHS would more around to various parts of Scotland. As a result of that, each year the show has a ‘host’ region- and this time it’s the turn of Dumfries and Galloway. So let’s see what this place in south-west Scotland has to offer…

Veteran Gardens Dumfries

Well we may not have the crowds this year - but we certainly have the animals - and we do have the flowers, thanks to Dumfries and Galloway who are our host region… Outside Ingliston House is a small garden planted by Scottish veterans. They come from the Veteran’s Garden Dumfries - a place where former servicemen and women can find friendship - and healing - in growing plants. The poppy theme is apt as this year is the 100th anniversary of the poppy appeal…
